Asha D. Abinallah is an Expert working at the Intersection of Information, Innovation, Technology, Internet Governance and Digital Practices in New Media for more than fifteen years in the ICT Field, with a Masters in New Media from the University of Leeds from United Kingdom.
Asha D. is the Founder and CEO of Tanzanian-founded ICT-cored organization championing Technological Adaptation and Digital Transformation within a Democratic Digital Framework – known as Tech & Media Convergency (TMC). TMC focuses on five strategic areas of democratic Internet Governance, Digital Media and Media Information Literacy, Digital and Technological Innovation, Women and Youth online participation and Research on ICT related aspects.
Asha D. is a recipient of a one-year Advanced International Training Programme in “Media Regulations in a Democratic Framework 2019/20”, organized jointly by NIRAS Sweden AB, FOJO: Media Institute, a Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni on the Business and Entrepreneurship track that she studied at the University of Austin in Texas in 2015, and a Swedish Institute Management Program Africa (SIMP) 2018 alumnae.
In her work to enhance women’s and youth participation online, Asha D. is an advisory member of Meta’s Sub-Saharan Africa Women’s Rights Working Group and an advisory member of UN Women’s Regional Civil Society Advisory Group (RCSAG). She is also part of the Global Infor/tegrity network by the National Democratic Institute and the Global Fact-Checking Community.
Asha D. brings a wealth of expertise in various fields, including Internet Governance, Media and New Media Trends, and Information Literacy as a certified trainer. Her skills extend to Data Visualization and Analysis, Gender Digital Inclusion and Empowerment, as well as Strategy and Execution. Additionally, she is proficient in ICT Research and Development, demonstrating a well-rounded capability in advancing accessibility, literacy and inclusion through innovative and strategic approaches.
In 2022, Asha D. was honored with the Excellence in Leadership Award from Women in Management Africa (WIMA) and recognized at the Pan-African Women Economic Summit (PAWES) Awards. Her achievements continued into 2023, where she received two awards at the Africa Fintech and AI Awards, including the RegTech Solution of the Year and Best RegTech Solution awards.
